Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

XP Defender 2013 is a fake anti-malware scanner whose ancestry can be traced to other members of the widespread FakeRean family. Most WinPC Defender-based scamware like XP Defender 2013 and its relatives are installed by Trojans with threat-downloading functions (such as Tibs Trojans). Even though XP Defender 2013 uses the name of a Microsoft OS and attempts to make itself appear as a useful anti-malware tool, SpywareRemove.com malware analysts have confirmed that XP Defender 2013 can neither detect malware nor remove any genuine infections. Instead, XP Defender 2013 only has the ability to create fake warnings as a sleazy marketing scheme to make you buy its 'full' software. As a PC threat, itself, XP Defender 2013's alerts should be disregarded, and XP Defender 2013 should be removed with a real anti-malware program of your choice.
XP Defender 2013: a Fraud that's Perfectly-Functional in 2012
XP Defender 2013's name may reference a dusty and antiquated version of Windows, but XP Defender 2013's ties to other scamware have XP Defender 2013 associated with some of the most regularly-updated and redistributed rogue anti-malware products of today. As a new scamware variant from the FakeRean family, XP Defender 2013 can be considered identical in its hoax and its security risks to PC threats like Ultimate Defender, SystemDefender, IE Defender, Advanced XP Defender, XP Defender, WinDefender2008, PCTotalDefender, PC Defender 2008, Personal Defender 2009, WinDefender 2009, Perfect Defender 2009, Total Defender, Malware Defender 2009, WinPC Defender, PC Privacy Defender, Smart Defender Pro, Rogue.UltimateDefender, FraudTool.LastDefender.b and Security Defender Pro 2015. SpywareRemove.com malware experts recommend that you consider XP Defender 2013 and other FakeRean-based scamware to be dangers to your PC due to payloads that can include:
- Attempts to block processes or programs as they're launched.
- Registry changes to your browser's settings that force it to use a proxy server. Websites may be blocked by XP Defender 2013 and confidential information may be monitored.
- Even more Registry changes that disable Windows Update, Windows Security Center and/or Windows Firewall.
- XP Defender 2013's persistent display of fake security information, including denouncing harmless files as infected and claiming that nonexistent attacks have taken place.
The End-All and Be-All of XP Defender 2013's Scam
XP Defender 2013's main design goal is to create a false appearance of multiple types of malware afflicting your computer and recommend that you spend money on purchasing its software to remove these imaginary threats. SpywareRemove.com malware experts see no reason to buy XP Defender 2013, which is a waste of money and risks exposing financial information to criminals. Even in cases where XP Defender 2013 is purchased, XP Defender 2013 still presents a real security threat to your computer (for the reasons noted above).
XP Defender 2013 can be removed by actual anti-malware products, although you may need to use standard security techniques to prevent XP Defender 2013 from blocking your scans. Because SpywareRemove.com malware experts have noted that XP Defender 2013 has an appreciable chance of being installed by various types of Trojans, any attempts to delete XP Defender 2013 should be capable of detecting related malware that may be responsible for XP Defender 2013 being on your computer in the first place.
