Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

TROJ_DOFOIL.GE is a member of the Win32/Dofoil family, a group of Trojan downloaders that are distributed by 'spam' e-mail. TROJ_DOFOIL.GE and other Dofoil-based Trojans have also been known to name their components after legitimate system files and will even delete their original files after delivering their payload. Although TROJ_DOFOIL.GE's functions are focused on installing other PC threats and, therefore, can be considered only mildly dangerous to your computer, TROJ_DOFOIL.GE's current payload, TSPY_SPCESEND.A, should be treated as a high-level threat due to its ability to password-protect arbitrary files and send them to remote servers for perusal by criminals. TSPY_SPCESEND.A explicitly targets Excel and Word file formats, and SpywareRemove.com malware researchers recommend that you be particularly cautious around any TROJ_DOFOIL.GE attack if you make frequent use of either of these two programs.
How to Catch That TROJ_DOFOIL.GE E-mail Before the Worst Happens
TROJ_DOFOIL.GE, as is also the case with other Dofoil-based Trojans, uses mass-mailed e-mail under fraudulent pretenses to gain access to other computers. Spam from TROJ_DOFOIL.GE, in particular, has been known to use e-mail messages about fake invoices for deliveries, but other Dofoil Trojans have also been known to use fake passwords for sites (such as Facebook) as an effective disguise. In all cases, however, these e-mail messages include TROJ_DOFOIL.GE or a related PC threat in the form of a .zip file attachment. Since legitimate companies will never request that you open file attachments due to the inherent security risks of such a format, SpywareRemove.com malware researchers note that simple online safety measures can keep TROJ_DOFOIL.GE from infecting your PC.
However, because TROJ_DOFOIL.GE may try to conceal its files with misleading names (such as dxdiag.exe), SpywareRemove.com malware experts discourage attempts to remove TROJ_DOFOIL.GE without any help from trustworthy anti-malware scanners that can differentiate between TROJ_DOFOIL.GE and real system components. Your anti-malware scanner may also require an update before it can identify TROJ_DOFOIL.GE, which was only noted as an independent PC threat early in 2012. TROJ_DOFOIL.GE may also be detected by the aliases of TrojanDownloader:Win32/Dofoil.O or Downloader.a!b2m, and is specific to Windows 2000, XP and Server 2003.
TROJ_DOFOIL.GE: A Partner to Work-Snatching Spyware
TROJ_DOFOIL.GE has been used to download and install such PC threats as TROJ_FAKEAV.FQO and TSPY_SPCESEND.A, both of which should be considered dangerous compromises of your computer's safety and privacy. These two PC threats are noted for the following types of primary attacks:
- TSPY_SPCESEND.A will password-protect Word or Excel-based file types prior to sending them to a remote server, where TSPY_SPCESEND.A's criminal partners can examine their contents in leisure.
- TROJ_FAKEAV.FQO is a fake anti-virus program from the Rogue:Win32/Winwebsec family, and may display inaccurate alerts or use other attacks, such as browser redirects or blocking security software, against your computer.
