Windows 7 Fix

Posted: July 8, 2011

ScreenshotWindows 7 Fix is a fake system defragmenter that creates a profusion of error messages to bully you into spending money on Windows 7 Fix's nonexistent error-fixing features. Although Windows 7 Fix pretends to be an independent and legitimate product, Windows 7 Fix actually is a copy of other fake Windows defragmentation tools and only contains malicious functions, such as hijacking your browser, blocking programs and attacking your file-viewing settings. Removal of Windows 7 Fix should be considered an urgent priority, but removing Windows 7 Fix is best accomplished with the use of sophisticated and updated anti-virus software.

Windows 7 Fix: The Money-Stealing Scam That's Not Limited to Windows 7

Unlike a real security program, Windows 7 Fix copies the majority of its code and appearance from other rogue defragmentation tools. Some relatives of Windows 7 Fix include Windows XP Fix, Windows Vista Fix, System Defragmenter, Windows Disk and Win Defragmenter, but many more Windows 7 Fix clones are also in circulation. Regardless of whether you get infected by Windows 7 Fix or one of its close relatives, you'll quickly start seeing horrifying errors like these:

Hard Drive Failure
The system has detected a problem with one or more installed IDE / SATA hard disks. It is recommended that you restart the system.

Low Disk Space
You are running very low disk space on Local Disk (C:).

Windows - No Disk
Exception Processing Message 0x0000013

System Error
An error occurred while reading system files. Run a system diagnostic utility to check your hard disk drive for errors.

Critical Error
Hard Drive not found. Missing hard drive.

Critical Error
RAM memory usage is critically high. RAM memory failure.

Critical Error!
Damaged hard drive clusters detected. Private data is at risk.

Critical Error
Hard drive critical error. Run a system diagnostic utility to check your hard disk drive for errors. Windows can't find hard disk space. Hard drive error.

Critical Error!
Windows was unable to save all the data for the file \System32\496A8300. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware.

Critical Error
A critical error has occurred while indexing data stored on hard drive. System restart required.

System Restore
The system has been restored after a critical error. Data integrity and hard drive integrity verification required.

These Windows 7 Fix errors are exaggerated deliberately to make you panic and buy Windows 7 Fix to fix these errors without stopping to consider whether or not they really exist in the first place. Like most rogue Windows defragmentation tools, Windows 7 Fix doesn't contain any code that would allow it to detect any of the system errors it pretends to watch out for; purchasing Windows 7 Fix is no better than throwing your money into a hole. Use Safe Mode to avoid these attacks and launch suitable anti-virus software to wipe out Windows 7 Fix and restore your computer to good health.

The Second Round of Windows 7 Fix's Swipes at Your Computer

Windows 7 Fix and its Trojan helper may also indulge in more directly harmful behavior, such as:

  • Concealing files by altering the Windows Explorer's settings. You don't need to worry about your files being deleted; Windows 7 Fix only changes the display of your files, and you can use any file-viewing program that isn't Windows Explorer to see that all your files are intact.
  • Windows 7 Fix may also blacklist its rival for PC security and prevent you from using genuine anti-virus and security software. Pay no mind to any efforts by Windows 7 Fix to convince you that this is for your own good - even in this case, any error alerts that Windows 7 Fix creates are fake.
  • As a last and rather pushy sales technique, Windows 7 Fix may also hijack your web browser. Hijacks can change your homepage to Windows 7 Fix's own website, change your search engine results, display error screens that prevent you from accessing safe websites or create pop-ups.

I totally thought Windows 7 Fix was part of Windows 7 because I just installed it on my dell PC. HOly cow, I was completely shocked when reading your removal guide on Windows 7 Fix. Thanks to you all, I did not buy Windows 7 Fix. It kept pop-ups displayed and I could not get my work done. My boss was pissed when his PC had it also. I think it was due to a sports site we visited that had some "racy" pictures of girls. Anywho, thank you guys at spywareremove and spyhunter!

I don't care how much, just get it removed. Going to try your solution download spyhunter. How do you do the Safe Mode startup? I read somewhere that it lets you remove malware easily without having the pop-ups come up in your face.
