TuneupMyMac is a Mac-compatible PC optimizer that claims to be able to clean up hard disk space, remove junk files, and protect your privacy by helping you dispose of sensitive data more securely. All of these features are meant to not just enhance your Mac’s performance, but to improve its health as well – however, the usefulness of the TuneupMyMac is questionable.

One of the first dubious things about this program is that it seems to be available for free download, but the version that users can download is very limited in terms of functionality – it is only able to scan the Mac device and generate a report with all its findings. If the user wants to carry out any of the fixes or PC optimization tasks that the TuneupMyMac recommends, then they would be prompted to purchase a full license for this program.

While using the TuneupMyMac is not a major issue, we would not advise you to spend money on this software suite since it is known to use deceptive tricks to make itself seem more useful than it really is – the program may exaggerate its scan results to trick users into thinking that the pending issues must be fixed urgently. Another reason why you should take everything that TuneupMyMac reports with a grain of salt is that this tool is listed as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) by multiple security products.

While its removal is not mandatory, it is certainly the recommended action if you do not want to pay for the full product – the trial version is useless, and it may display regular reminders that urge you to clean up your PC by paying for the full software license. Since TuneupMyMac is not a threat, it can be eliminated manually, but if you want to ensure a full and clean removal, then you should take care of the task with the use of a suitable Mac security tool.
