The Roblocker X Ransomware is a Trojan that displays encryption warnings, claiming to have locked any media related to the Roblox MMO game. Current versions of the Roblocker X Ransomware are likely to use their attacks for locking you out of your desktop, but it may not damage any individual files necessarily. Standard recovery techniques for disabling screen locking threats can help you regain UI access and remove the Roblocker X Ransomware with any security program you choose.

Trojans Happy to Knock Down All Your Building Blocks

Trojan campaigns focusing on extortion, usually, will isolate valuable but generically-useful formats of data to hold hostage, such as text documents. Sometimes, however, the victimized information follows an even narrower theme, such as the components of online gaming products. The Roblocker X Ransomware is one of the first threat of its type to target fans of Roblox, a decade-old, e-socialization sandbox.

As a work-in-progress, the Roblocker X Ransomware does not have a fully working encryptor feature, although its author may add this function later, most likely through AES-based methods. As usual, the creator is finishing the 'ransom' component first, which displays a screen-locking pop-up attack featuring an encryption warning. The alert claims that the Roblocker X Ransomware is locking all Roblox-related content and asks you to contact the author to get the unlock code.

Inputting the 'decryption' code does terminate the window and give you back your user interface access. Malware analysts find the string 'PooPoo' working for unlocking current samples. Future changes to the Roblocker X Ransomware's password may require the user booting directly into Safe Mode, to block the Trojan's loading routine, or even booting from a peripheral device.

Building Up a Virtual World without Trojan Input

The Roblocker X Ransomware's odd choice of specialty for its victims may be an indicator of the Trojan's being a joke or a part of a campaign without any intent on collecting ransom payments. Whichever might be the truth about its author's motives, the Roblocker X Ransomware is a security risk that prevents you from opening other programs arbitrarily.

Any encryption-related updates also could convert the Roblocker X Ransomware into a threat to your local content, such as Roblox 3D models or LUA scripts, that may not be easy to replace. Backing up anything that you can't afford to lose (or pay con artists to restore) is the traditional, preemptive defense against all Trojans wielding encryption technology.

E-mail attachments are the most thoroughly abused method of installing file-encrypting Trojans. With screen-locking ones, however, other strategies, such as bundling the threat with another download, also are highly likely of being used. Let your anti-malware utilities analyze all incoming files to delete the Roblocker X Ransomware on sight.

As threatening as programs like the Roblocker X Ransomware can be, PC users enable them by not taking the proper, counteractive steps. The contents of new pop-ups are more than capable of lying to you, particularly when they claim that your files are on the line.
