OneSafe PC Cleaner
The OneSafe PC Cleaner is a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP), which is being spread via the misleading 'Your Windows is Infected with (2) Viruses!' Pop-Ups. These pop-ups are meant to inform users that their computers have been infected with threats and they need to take the necessary measures to eliminate the pending threats immediately. However, instead of working as an online technical support tactic, these pop-ups tell users to download a PC cleaning tool that can help them resolve the issue - the OneSafe PC Cleaner. The good news is that this software does not cause any harm to the computer, but you should keep in mind that having it installed on your PC may end up exposing you to annoying messages and warnings that may often turn out to be untrue.
The application is the product of Avanquest Software, and researchers identified two other PUPs that are almost identical to the OneSafe PC Cleaner - PC OptiClean and SpeedingUpMyPC. The only differences between them are the name and the design style, but their interfaces are always the same.
The OneSafe PC Cleaner may display exaggerated results to trick its users into thinking that there are many things that can be optimized and fixed on their computers. However, the free version of the OneSafe PC Cleaner does not allow users to fix any of the issues since it is only able to function as a scanning utility. This is why the free version may display regular reminders and warnings that the user's computer might be underperforming because there are problems to be fixed. These warnings are often followed by an offer to purchase the full version of the OneSafe PC Cleaner, which will supposedly help resolve the pending problems.
We advise you not to purchase software without a good reputation, especially if the app in question is the OneSafe PC Cleaner – a tool that is being spread via fraudulent browser pop-ups should not be trusted. If either OneSafe PC Cleaner, OptiClean or SpeedingUpMyPC are present on your computer, then we advise you to uninstall them immediately. The recommended way to get rid of these PUPs is to use a credible PC security utility.
