mixMusic Search

The mixMusic Search (almost identical to mixMusic Start) is a browser extension, which is promoted to users as a one-of-a-kind tool to help them discover new music while searching the Web. However, users who are interested in learning more about these extensions might want to know that both of them are classified as Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs), and their installation may often lead to unforeseen consequences which, thankfully, are not harmful. Both extensions are offered by the same publisher (the company behind the mixGames Search ), and both of them have a very similar design. However, the mixMusic Search may modify the Google Chrome's default search provider, therefore redirecting all address bar searches to Musix.searchalgo.com, and then to the Yahoo Search. In the meantime, the installation of the mixMusic Start may change the Chrome's new tab page to a search engine affiliated with the mixMusic Start publisher.

Both of these extensions are safe, and they have never displayed potentially harmful behavior. However, it is certain that many users may reconsider their installation when they find out that these extensions always ask for permission to modify the Google Chrome's settings. Researchers state that the removal of the mixMusic Search and the mixMusic Start is not mandatory, but it is recommended since these add-ons may not have any redeemable features.

Both the mixMusic Search and the mixMusic Start can be removed without the help of security software and anti-malware scanner. Instead, you should open Google Chrome's extension manager, and uninstall the add-ons from there. If for some reason, this does not work, then you can rest assured that your favorite anti-malware application will help you take care of these PUPs.
