DroidJack
DroidJack is an expensive Android Trojan whose author tries to promote it as a legitimate application designed to help users access remote Android devices. However, DroidJack's abilities clearly show that this tool is meant to infect devices without alerting the victims that there is a Remote Access Trojan (RAT) on their devices – DroidJack is able to gain persistence by using various tricks, and it also does a good job at hiding its components from Android menus.
According to DroidJack's official website, users who want to use this Trojan need to pay $210 for a lifetime license that includes full support, updates, and documentation. Once the DroidJack is in their hands, they are free to use it anyway they like – including distributing it online under the disguise of useful Android applications. In the past, copies of DroidJack were found embedded in fake APK files that posed as installers for popular Android games like Pokemon GO and Super Mario Run.
DroidJack Poses as a Legitimate Tool
Once DroidJack is deployed, it can allow the attacker to monitor the victim's devices and access a large portion of Android's features and sensors. For example, a threat actor could spoof text messages via the victim's phone, collect files, hijack contacts, and even record phone calls, videos or audio easily.
The DroidJack application has been around for many years, and modern Android anti-virus products are capable of identifying its traits and blocking it before it can cause any damage perfectly. The best way to ensure that your Android device 100% from such malware is to invest in a reputable anti-malware application with active protection modules. As an additional layer of security, you should try to stay away from applications from unknown sources – it is best to stick to using Android applications from the official Google Play Store.
