Dharma-Gate Ransomware
The Dharma-Gate Ransomware is a file-locker that can prevent its victims from accessing the majority of their files. Unfortunately, the files damaged by the Dharma-Gate Ransomware may be very difficult to recover since this file-encryption Trojan uses a uniquely generated encryption key to lock the files of its victims. After the attack is completed, the Dharma-Gate Ransomware may transfer the decryption key to the Command & Control server of the attackers, therefore making them the sole owners of the information needed to complete the decryption of the user’s files.
As you may have guessed probably, the authors of the Dharma-Gate Ransomware will not help their victims for free and, instead, they may ask to be paid a fair amount of Bitcoin in exchange for their assistance. All attacks carried out by the Dharma-Gate Ransomware will end with the delivery of a ransom message, which provides the victims with the instructions they have to follow if they wish to receive help from the attackers.
The Dharma-Gate Ransomware marks all locked files with the extension ‘.id-
Of course, you should not send any money to the Dharma-Gate Ransomware’s authors because they may not fulfill their part of the deal. The suggestion to the victims of this file-locker is to use a reputable anti-virus tool to remove the infected files, and then look into alternative data recovery options.
