Caribarena Ransomware
Caribarena Ransomware, also known as Caribarena Virus, is an online scam created and distributed by attackers to extort money from unsuspecting computer users. Caribarena Ransomware propagates with the help of a ransomware 'Police' Trojan via infected websites, malicious downloads, or malevolent spam email attachments. The Trojan blocks the targeted computer system and urges the attacked PC user to pay a supposed fine of $200 through the prepaid payment system Moneygram to restore access to the contaminated computer. Caribarena Ransomware covers the screen of the compromised PC with a fake pop-up alert, which is allegedly sent by the police or other legal authorities, in this case Caribarena. The scary pop-up warning message of Caribarena Ransomware claims that the computer user has been performing illegitimate online actions, such as visiting malicious websites, downloading and dispersing copyrighted content, sending spam emails to other PC users or spreading forbidden audio, video or software to other PC users. Attacked computer users should not pay the supposed fine asked by Caribarena Ransomware because they will simply lose money by transferring them to scammers and won't receive an unlock code.
