AthenaSearch

AthenaSearch is an intrusive browser add-on for macOS and Windows Web browsers. It should not be mistaken with the product found at Athenasearch.io, a legitimate add-on for WordPress, Magento and other online store platforms. AthenaSearch does not have an official website or download location and, instead, it may be promoted through fake downloads, misleading advertisements, software bundles and other deceptive content. If you install AthenaSearch, your Web browser's settings might be modified without your approval. The changes that AthenaSearch brings concern the default search engine and new tab page – they may be replaced by a 3rd-party website, which is unreliable.

Whenever you experience unexpected and unwanted changes to the configuration of your browser, you should look into the list of installed and active extensions immediately – any unknown entries should be removed.
