Actively Search

Posted: April 1, 2020

Actively Search is a program that you should avoid installing because, despite its name, it will not provide you with an improved online search service. Instead, Actively Search plant its files on your Mac system, and then begin to inject advertisements in your Web browser as soon as you start using it. This application is detected as 'adware' by reputable Mac anti-virus products, and its removal is strongly recommended. The Actively Search software is not threatening, but it does not offer anything of value, and its activity is always accompanied by the presence of undesired advertisements in your browser.

Actively Search does not have an official website and, instead, it is being propagated with the help of various tricks and fraudulent schemes:

  • Prompts to install a fake Adobe Flash Player.
  • Prompts to update your Adobe Flash Player by downloading a fake update.
  • Fake downloads.
  • Bundled software.
  • Misleading advertisements.

If you suspect that the advertisements you see in your Web browser are not credible, then you should always run an anti-malware scanner to make sure that this is not caused by an adware application.
